On Growth

Pay now or pay later.

We cannot become what we need to be by remaining where we are. - Max Depree

You know the adage: no pain, no gain. The truth is you choose your poison and the longer you wait to make the right move, the more it costs.

Leadership without personal discipline is a rudderless ship; you can't get there without a solid growth regimen.

Albert Einstein said we cannot solve the problems we have created with the same level of thinking we had when we created them. In essence, he is saying we must stretch ourselves -- and our minds -- beyond the comfortable and the complacent.

Growth requires action. It also requires we subject our preconceptions to the scrutiny of a new paradigm.

Leadership is a continual cycle of education. Because we cannot give what we do not have, we must continue to unlearn, learn and re-learn.

If you really want to lead, it comes down to this: Grow or die.
